When Darkness Dies

When darkness dies in the light
Having been erased from sight
Who is left to grieve?
When ancient souls roamed the earth
Sprang out from darkness through birth
Bearing masks of flesh and bone
Taking on corporal form
Did they not hear the darkness cry

Or did they instead embrace the lie
That darkness is evil
It must be driven out
Its secrets to great
Far too treacherous
For mortal coils to ever not see something devious
Lurking hidden beneath its vail
Perhaps darkness deserves some sympathy
For since man’s birth it’s been viewed as enemy
And through the evolution of technology
The light has both day and night
And darkness has been kept at bay

For far too long darkness has been feared
Never embraced
Allowed to heal
From it only time we steal
I hope one day we let it out
For it will not corrupt or lead astray
Like blindly following the light
Which can rob you of all sight
And return you to the world
Where darkness is on the throne.
